Frequently asked questions
When should I contact an architect?
The earlier you bring an architect into the process, the better the outcome tends to be. Early involvement helps establish a clear and thoughtful direction from the start, aligning your goals, site, and budget before decisions are locked in. This not only strengthens the overall design, but also helps prevent costly changes later and creates a smoother, more confident path from concept to construction.
What types of projects do you work on?
I provide architectural design services for both residential and commercial projects, helping bring ideas to life through thoughtful planning, personal collaboration, and timeless design.
What happens during the initial consultation?
We’ll start by talking through your ideas, goals, site, budget, and timeline to get a clear understanding of your project. From there, I’ll help shape a thoughtful direction and guide you through the design process with clarity and care, making sure every step feels organized and intentional.
Do I need to have a builder before contacting you?
No. Many clients reach out before selecting a builder, and I’m happy to work with you early in the planning process. I can also recommend builders I work closely with and trust, helping you feel confident in building the right team for your project. Getting involved early allows us to align the design, budget, and construction approach from the start, setting the foundation for a smoother and more successful process.
Can you help with remodeling or additions, not just new homes?
Absolutely. Whether you’re updating an existing home or planning an addition, I can help create a design that fits your needs and complements your home.
Remodels often come with unique considerations—like detailed site measurements, existing conditions, and structural complexities—and I take all of that into account to ensure the design is both practical and well-resolved.
The goal is to create a seamless blend between old and new while making the process as clear and manageable as possible.
How long does the design process take?
Timelines vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, but I’ll provide an estimated schedule as we get started. Every project is unique, and I take the time to establish a realistic timeline that aligns with your goals and overall scope.
If you’re considering a project, feel free to contact me right away to get on my schedule and begin planning the next steps together.
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy. Simply reach out through email, or phone, and we’ll schedule an initial conversation about your project. From there, we’ll talk through your ideas, goals, and next steps, and begin shaping a clear direction for your design.
If you’re ready to move forward, I recommend reaching out early to get on my schedule so we can start planning your project together.
Can you work with plans or ideas I already have?
Absolutely. Whether you have sketches, inspiration photos, or an existing floor plan, I can help refine and develop your vision into a clear, buildable design.
It’s also helpful if you bring a couple of floor plans you like—we can look at what works, what doesn’t, and use that as a starting point to shape something tailored to you.
I’ll take the time to understand how you want to live in the space so the final design feels intentional, practical, and truly your own.
How much does it cost to hire an architect?
Every project is unique. After discussing your goals and scope, I’ll provide clear information about the design services and fees tailored specifically to your project, with a focus on creating lasting value, strong functionality, and thoughtful cost efficiency. If cost savings is your goal, we can also explore design strategies that help you build smarter and make the most of your budget.
Commercial work is based on scope and level of service, while new residential projects are typically priced per square foot depending on size and complexity.
If you’re considering a project, I’m happy to walk you through the process and help determine what approach best fits your needs and budget.
I'm not sure where to start. Should I still reach out?
Absolutely. Whether you have a complete vision or just the beginning of an idea, an initial conversation is the best place to start. It’s a chance to talk through your goals, explore possibilities, and see how I can help bring your project to life. From there, we can determine the right next steps and move forward at a pace that feels right for you.
